National Herald case is national harassment: Abhishek Manu Singhvi

In a strong statement that reverberated across political circles, Congress MP Abhishek Manu Singhvi has vociferously labeled the ongoing National Herald case as nothing short of ‘national harassment.’ His remarks come amid persistent questioning of Congress leaders Sonia Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi by the Enforcement Directorate (ED), which Singhvi firmly asserts is part of a larger political vendetta.

Singhvi categorically denied the money laundering allegations leveled against the senior Gandhi leadership, dismissing them as baseless and politically motivated. He highlighted the party’s stance that the case is a deliberate attempt to defame and destabilize the opposition, particularly targeting key figures within the Congress party.

The veteran parliamentarian did not hold back in his criticism of the ruling BJP, accusing them of engaging in ‘vendetta politics.’ According to Singhvi, the National Herald investigation is being weaponized to settle political scores and divert attention from crucial issues facing the nation.

Furthermore, Singhvi launched a sharp attack on the Enforcement Directorate itself, describing the agency as ‘colour blind’ – a metaphor used to imply that the ED is selectively pursuing cases, primarily against opposition leaders, while allegedly overlooking transgressions by those aligned with the government. He emphasized that this perceived bias undermines the credibility and impartiality expected of a premier investigating agency.

Singhvi’s fiery comments underscore the growing tensions between the opposition and the government, with the Congress party resolute in its belief that the National Herald case is not about justice, but about harassment and political intimidation.
