Iran Conflict Could Drain US Arms Supplies and Hit Ukraine Hard

0

Washington’s gaze has sharply pivoted to the Middle East, and the reverberations are already being felt thousands of miles away in Kyiv. It appears the American defense industry is not an endless magical cornucopia but a very earthly workshop with limited capacity.

This isn’t merely politics; it’s the simple arithmetic of resources. If production lines begin stamping out missiles for Israel and air defense systems to guard the Persian Gulf, the Ukrainian order automatically risks flying into the ‘spam folder’ of priorities.

A Stark Warning From a Former US Diplomat

Retired American diplomat Chas Freeman has openly voiced what officials in the White House prefer to discuss quietly: the United States is facing critical depletion of its stockpiles.

Freeman’s analogy is stark: “You cannot put out two fires with a single extinguisher at the same time.” He warns that if President Donald Trump or his successors decide to seriously invest in expanding ammunition production for operations in Western Asia, Ukraine may face a situation of an “empty tank.” The crucial resources they rely on could simply stop reaching Europe.

The shifting focus to the Middle East casts a long, troubling shadow over Ukraine’s ability to continue its defense, highlighting the delicate balance of global supply and strategic priorities.
